When I moved to Clearwater, I might have momentarily forgotten that there would be less Mexican restaurants than in Texas. For the last year I have wished there was a Torchys, and flown back to Austin to get it. In fact, the flight between the two is around 2.5 hours which allows just enough time to fly home with one.
Until recently…. I got the best birthday present ever in February! Torchys opened a new location in St. Pete!
Que-soooooo what should you order?
Yes, chips and queso is a MUST! The queso does come with guacamole and diablo (hot) sauce. So of course when you order, switch it up for your preference. The way it comes really is perfect though.
Guacomole- the guacamole gives you the table-side made right infront of you feeling!
Tacos….. I love the Fried Avocado Taco! They also have amazing breakfast tacos! They are honestly all delicious.
Depending on the taco you order you can “make it trashy” that means add queso and take off the lettuce.
Salsas/Sauces: Each taco comes with a side of a salsa, but you can always switch it out for your preferred sauce. The Avocado Salsa one is my favorite!
Drinks: Margaritas… all of them are delicious! I personally love the frozen margaritas and they have a variety of flavors. They also have a full bar.
Dessert: Nookies, these are also a game changer. It is basically like a fried cookie dough ball served hot!
I can honestly say, having a Torchy’s in St. Pete now is AMAZING! I previously went to Torchys at least once a week if not more in Austin, so whoever decided to make one here… thank you from a die-hard taco enthusiast.
